About Midwest Center for Home, Hospice & Palliative Care Education
Midwest Center for Home, Hospice & Palliative Care Education (Midwest Center for Education) was formed in 2009. Our vision is to be the cornerstone for education and technical information about home care, hospice and palliative care provided to the public and professional community. Midwest Center for Education is a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization and an affiliate of Midwest Care Alliance, formerly the Ohio Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (OHPCO), which was founded in 1979.
Midwest Center for Education supports the missions and visions of the Midwest Care Allince by acting as a resource for those who are seeking information about the vital areas of healthcare these organizations serve.
The educational outreach of our organization has grown significantly in the recent past. We consistently provide programs that attract a wide audience throughout Ohio and neighboring states. Throughout 2007 and 2008, more than 10,000 people benefited from all of our educational offerings.
Significant features of our programming include:
- Annual conferences for both home care and hospice/palliative care
- Professional education promoting best practices and quality care
- Education highlighting business strategies
- "Fundamentals of Home Care"
- "Fundamentals of Hospice"
- Workshops about home care coding and billing
- Partnerships in providing education with other healthcare systems and organizations
- Use of varied education modalities including face-to-face, audio calls, Webinars and self studies
Midwest Center for Home, Hospice & Palliative Care Education serves as a catalyst for other initiatives and group efforts such as Bobby's Books, Ohio Pediatric Palliative & End-of-life care Network (OPPEN), Hospice Veterans Partnership (HVP), QAPI Coach and the Honoring Wishes Task Force, among others.
We are constantly evaluating and planning additional services to support the needs of those who are working in home care, hospice and palliative care. In addition, we look for ways to promote the best care resulting in countless benefits for all those who are utilizing these services in the community.
