Collaborative Efforts

Ohio Hospice & Palliative Care Organization is involved in several collaborative efforts that are consistent with our mission.

DNR/Honoring Wishes Task Forces

Originally assembled in 2005, these groups met regularly to address concerns related to the DNR protocol in Ohio, to strategize for improvements related to end of life treatment preferences, and to consider recommendations for advance directives. The groups have been comprised of representatives from more than 30 organizations. Most recent initiatives have included suggestions for ODH rule changes related to DNR and the promoting the adoption of Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) in Ohio. Contact info@ohpco.org for more information.

Palliative Care Network

Consistent with the promotion of quality palliative care services throughout Ohio, this network was assembled to provide an opportunity to explore best practices and to collaborate with colleagues. The Palliative Care Task Force, a subcommittee of the Network, has conducted a statewide survey of palliative care programs, planned regularly scheduled meetings, and sponsored educational offerings. Contact info@ohpco.org for more information.

Hospice Veterans Partnership (HVP)

The mission of the HVP is to establish an enduring network of hospice and VA professionals, volunteers, and other interested organizations working together to provide quality services through the end of life for all Ohio veterans.

Home Care Advisory Task Force

Representatives from the home care industry as well as the OHPCO Board of Directors are assisting the formation and structure of services for our growing Home Care Division. In December 2006, the OHPCO Board of Directors voted to begin a home care division, to serve home care agencies in Ohio. OHPCO is in process of considering our strategic plan, infrastructure needs and how future changes will affect the organization. If you want of need further information regarding these changes feel free to contact us at info@ohpco.org.

Ohio Pediatric Palliative & End of Life Care Network (OPPEN)

OPPEN is a statewide consortium of pediatric palliative care professionals whose mission is to ensure access to quality pediatric hospice and palliative care for all children with life-threatening illness and their families in the state of Ohio.
